The iPET Network Level 3 Award for Educators in the Canine and Feline Sector is designed to teach you the skills, knowledge, and behaviours to become an effective teacher, to inspire others and create a successful learning environment.

The knowledge you gain from this qualification will allow you to explore opportunities in Animal Welfare, Charities, or within the Veterinary Care sector.

This course is designed for those who are interested in teaching within the animal industry, or for those who are already teaching but need a nationally recognised qualification.

The course covers three mandatory units and features both theoretical and practical learning.

On completion of this unit you will:

  • Learn about the role in supporting adults in a learning capacity
  • Study educators’ roles and responsibilities for assessments
  • Adapt to learner needs when working with dogs and cats
  • Study relevant legislation linked to learning and animals
  • Learn how to promote and respect equality in adult learners
  • Identify learning barriers and how to manage them

Unit 2: Planning for inclusive learning and assessment within a Canine and Feline learning environment

On completion of this unit you will:

  • Study the methods of assessments used with learners
  • Learn how to deliver effective teaching
  • Discover how to adapt methods to meet the needs of leaners
  • Learn how to safely teach learners and animals together
  • Study self-reflection and its importance in teaching

Unit 3: Facilitate and deliver effective teaching to meet the needs of learners within a canine and feline environment

On completion of this unit you will:

  • Develop a learning plan for micro-teaching
  • Learn methods used that support learning objectives
  • Discover how constructive feedback can be used effectively
  • Facilitate learning development groups with canines and felines
  • Learn about personal learning and development planning

Requirements

If you have a genuine interest in canine and feline education and are over the age of 18 years, then no previous experience or qualifications are required to start this course.

Assessment

When studying the iPET Network Level 3 Award for Educators in the Canine and Feline Sector you will be asked to show your knowledge and provide evidence of your studies.

You will be assessed through written assessments, and a 15-minute microteaching session that is observed, recorded and assessed by the tutor.

For the 15-minute microteaching session and to pass the assessment, you will need to facilitate and deliver effective teaching within a Canine and Feline Environment.

 

When are you assessed?

As you’re in control of how you learn, you’re also in charge of when you hand in your assignments. This enables you to take as long as you need to thoroughly understand the unit before completing any assignments.
