This level 2 award consists of two units.

Upon completion of this unit you will: 

  • Be able to identify the different breeds of canines and justify why particular breeds are chosen 

  • Understand the common types of illness that can occur in canine breeds 

  • Be able to understand the fundamental values of canine and human relationships 

Unit 2: Canine Training and Behaviour 

Upon completion of this unit you will: 

  • Be able to understand different types of behaviour in canines and how to manage unwanted behaviour 

  • Understand the use of appropriate plans to help stop behaviour and welfare concerns for canines 

  • Understand the significance of canine training methods and how canines learn through training 

  • Understand the purpose of introducing training equipment without using force 

Entry Requirements

You don't need any prior knowledge or experience, however, you will need to be aged 16 or above and have working knowledge of at least Level 1 to enrol. 

Minimum Age Restriction

Average Completion Timeframe 

You have 24 months to complete your course. 

Certification Timeframe 

Learners can expect their certification within 6 months of completing the course, following the (EQA) External Quality Assurance of assessment. 

Course Fees

You will be required to create a portfolio of evidence, that you will need to submit in order to gain your qualification.
