This qualification will provide you with the core skills needed to care for canines in a professional setting, including essential knowledge such as the responsibilities of the canine carer.
You will also learn how to identify canine behaviours, training techniques and how to spot behavioural or health issues to avoid distress or anxiety in the animals in your care.

This level 2 award consists of two units.
Unit 1: Canine Health Care
Upon completion of this unit you will:

Be able to identify the different breeds of canines and justify why particular breeds are chosen

Understand the common types of illness that can occur in canine breeds

Be able to understand the fundamental values of canine and human relationships
Unit 2: Canine Training and Behaviour
Upon completion of this unit you will:

Be able to understand different types of behaviour in canines and how to manage unwanted behaviour

Understand the use of appropriate plans to help stop behaviour and welfare concerns for canines

Understand the significance of canine training methods and how canines learn through training

Understand the purpose of introducing training equipment without using force
Entry Requirements
You don't need any prior knowledge or experience, however, you will need to be aged 16 or above and have working knowledge of at least Level 1 to enrol.
Minimum Age Restriction
16
Average Completion Timeframe
You have 24 months to complete your course.
Certification Timeframe
Learners can expect their certification within 6 months of completing the course, following the (EQA) External Quality Assurance of assessment.
Course Fees
All course fees, inclusive of all payment plans including our Premium Credit Limited option, must be settled before certification can be ordered.
You will be required to create a portfolio of evidence, that you will need to submit in order to gain your qualification.
