Studying your A Level

A Level Economics builds significantly on GCSE level knowledge by applying economic theory to support analysis of current economic problems. You will learn about the interdependence of micro-economics and macro-economics and understand the roles they each play.

You will be challenged to think critically about key issues and make arguments and recommendations based on qualitative and quantitative evidence.

This A Level in Economics will explore economic methodology, price determination in relation to production and costs and more.

Upon completion of this course, you will understand the operation of markets and market failures. You will also understand the national economy in a global context.

This course will also give you a strong foundation upon which to study Economics at a degree level.

Included in this course bundle are the three exam papers you need to gain your A Level Economics. Your exams will be at an exam centre near to you. We will aim to find you a place within 50 miles of your postcode, subject to centre capacity and exam availability.

The first will cover the operation of markets and market failure. The second will look at the national economy in the global context. The third will focus on economic principles and issues.

All three papers are a combination of multiple-choice questions and data response questions.

Getting Started

learndirect is one of the UK’s leading providers of distance learning courses. Unlike most providers, all of our courses are completely online.

That means as soon as you enrol you will have unfettered access to your course materials and assignments. This gives you complete autonomy in terms of how and when you study.

You can complete your learning and assignments as quickly as you feel you can manage. Moreover, you can fit your distance learning around your home life and work commitments, thereby taking some of the stress out of the process.

No evening classes, no back to school nerves. Just you and your learning. The only specific deadline to work towards is your exam – exam sittings are held once per year in May or June.

You will have a qualified tutor assigned to you during your studies. They will be on hand to offer advice and guidance throughout your A Level. They will also be marking your assignments. Each one will come back with clear feedback so you will know what you can improve upon.
