This level 3 certificate in Understanding Autism will allow you to develop a comprehensive understanding of autism in its many forms. You will learn how to adopt a positive approach to supporting individuals with autism and the different theories behind these approaches.
Part of the course includes understanding the legislative framework surrounding the provision of care and support for those with autism. This includes your role and responsibilities and safeguarding.
During your studies you will learn the range of therapeutic interventions and support communication and social interaction for individuals with autism.

To be awarded the Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism, learners are required to successfully complete 5 mandatory units:
- Unit 01 - Understand the diagnosis and management of autism
- Unit 02 - Understand best practice in the context of autism
- Unit 03 - Legislation, guidance, information and support relevant to autism
- Unit 04 - Autism and behaviour
- Unit 05 - Living with autism in society
Entry Requirements
There are no specific prior skills or knowledge a learner must have for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 2 qualification as they can apply their knowledge of the structures of work at Level 2 to this qualification.
The qualification is suitable for learners of 16 years of age and above.
This qualification is designed for learners who wish to raise awareness of mental health, creating a culture of care and the promotion of positive mental health. This qualification gives learners the opportunity to understand mental health, its associated care and how this can be applied to learners or colleagues in the workplace. Workers within a wide range of public service roles may interact with those with mental health issues and support needs in their day-to-day work across several sectors. It may also be useful to learners studying qualifications in the following sectors/areas:
- customer service
- housing
- voluntary sector
- sport and recreation
- hospitality
- travel and tourism
All course fees, inclusive of all payment plans including our Premium Credit Limited option, must be settled before certification can be ordered.
*You will have access to the course for 24 months.
Your work will be assessed at the end of each unit. The assignments will then be used to create a portfolio of evidence. You will also gain feedback and grades provided by your personal tutor, that will help you progress through the course.
