Debbie Bange – never too late to learn online!
Debbie completed her learning with us and was our first person to take a functional skills reform exam. From the outset Debbie was concerned about her IT skills, as an ‘older’ learner she genuinely felt she may struggle for confidence with the exam being taken on a computer. Indeed on the exam day Debbie struggled with technical side of the exam. The tutoring team helped Debbie prepare out of hours to ensure she could take her exam on the weekend, the result being a first time pass!
Here’s how she reacted:
Thank you so much for your email. I am absolutely delighted with the result as it enables me to move forward with my new career.
May I take this opportunity to thank you personally for your efforts also. It has been a bit of a struggle to get where we are now with the I.T. side of things causing me problems. However you found solutions and supported me all the way, as did Vitto the invigilator. Studying with learndirect has been a great experience all in all and I would recommend this way of learning to every age group ,especially mine (over 50's). It goes to show it is never too late to start something new.
Thank you all once again,
Martyn Holdcroft – tailored support to help get results!
Martyn has both dyslexia and dyscalculia and had attempted his level 2 English exam twice with other providers, failing on both occasions. His support was tailored to his neurodiverse needs and focussed around exam results breakdown and how to tackle questions. The result was a pass on his first attempt with us. He’s now working towards his maths level 2.
This is what Martyn had to say about his pass:
I thought I would let you know that I found out yesterday that I scored 80% and passed my reading exam, which now means I have passed my English Functional Skills Level 2. Thank you so much for all your support and encouragement. Let me know if you need me to do a review or anything for you. I am absolutely over the moon because I didn’t think I had done that well reading this time and was probably going to have to take it again. I probably should have said that I was diagnosed with dyslexia and dyscalculia in 2013 so these types of exams are pretty difficult for me in terms of processing the information at speed. I was considering getting an updated screening done so I could have accessed extra time but luckily, I didn’t need it this time. Thanks so much for everything, you helped me so much, Linda.
Amie Jones - you can never have too much support.
Amie came to us after having failed twice with another provider. Originally she purchased 2 hours of 1 to 1 tutorials and a marked mock. Using these sessions, getting focused feedback and exam technique advice from her mock Amie saw how much more quickly she was learning as well getting the power of getting a confidence boost. Amie decided to keep this momentum going and after another set of tutorials and one more marked mock with detailed developmental feedback she passed!
Megan Bartlett – overcoming exam fear to get that first time pass!
Megan started her learning in January 2019. As a supported learner, she confirmed to her tutor that she had ASD needs, low confidence and excessive exam fear. After a couple of very successful tutorials Megan upgraded to the specialist package where her support included lots of holistic coaching and resulted in a pass first time!
In Megan’s own words:
I just got an email a few seconds ago and I passed 😁. I got 37/48 ! Thank you so much for everything.
