While this course is an ideal stepping stone for those who have achieved the Level 3 Award in Education and Training and/or the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, it isn’t essential to complete these prior to taking this course. As such, there are no specific academic entry requirements, however, learners must:

  • Be able to read and communicate well enough to meet the requirements of the training
  • Not have a criminal background removes their ability to teach young people or vulnerable adults
  • Hold a qualification at ideally Level 3 or above in their area of specialism
  • Possess key literacy, language, numeracy, and ICT skills 
  • Be aged 19 or above

In light of the above, you will need to undertake an initial assessment to determine your skills in English, Mathematics and ICT.

On completion of this course, and subject to eligibility criteria outlined by The Society for Education & Training (SET), this qualification is recognised for QTLS applications. There are additional fees associated with an application for QTLS – check the SET website for current information.

The qualification is assessed by a range of assessments that are designed to test your understanding and application of theory. As such, a portfolio of evidence will be required to demonstrate your practical skills, in addition to observations of your practice.

Learners will also need to have completed a minimum of 100 hours of practice and be able to evidence their ability to work with groups of learners.

Upon completion of this qualification, you will achieve either a pass or a fail.
