Catherine, 54, is a health care assistant working within the NHS. She had a self-confessed fear of English.
Having struggled with it all her life, she began to feel it was holding her back from progressing within her career and her employer agreed.
When she first approached PHX Training in Blackpool she was very low in confidence. However, thanks to her hard work and often learning straight after her night shift, she made significant progress and gained Maths and English qualifications.
Her colleagues have reported a significant change in Catherine and she’s now tackling different tasks and more responsibilities in her role.
Catherine won a national learndirect Inspiration Award in 2014.
Catherine is now looking forward to progressing further in her career.
Catherine said, “It shocked me how much I managed to learn. I couldn’t even fill in a form before, I’ve come such a long way.”
