Unit 3: Aggression, Stress Reduction and Bite Avoidance

  • Recognise how stress behaviour differs according to given factors
  • Understand canine behaviour in relation to welfare & safety for the grooming industry

Unit 4: Grooming Techniques for Different Types of Coats

  • Identify & explain the standard grooming kit & general equipment required by a professional groomer
  • Understand grooming skills required for a range of coat types

Unit 5: Bathing, Brushing and Caring for Teeth, Nails, Face, Rear and Ears

Upon completion of this unit you will:

  • Investigate & explain other grooming services relevant to the professional groomer
  • Understand grooming services for the younger, older & rescue dog

Unit 6: Running a Successful Fixed or Mobile Dog Grooming Business

Upon completion of this unit you will:

  • Outline opportunities & responsibilities of a dog grooming business
  • Understand legal & financial aspects of running a small business

Requirements

The minimum age for access to this qualification is 18 years of age.

The Dog Grooming course consists of 6 theory modules and includes a practical session where you will work with a professional groomer at a City and Guilds approved salon and gain valuable hands-on experience.
