About the Biochemistry Certificate
Biochemistry is the study of chemical processes within living matter. Biochemists are responsible for discovering how these chemical processes work and how all living things function, and then figuring out ways to sustain or improve them. This work is extremely important to the lives of humans, plants, animals and the environment as a whole.
This distance learning biochemistry course has been designed to work as an introduction to certain aspects of biochemistry. Rather than focusing of the science heavy areas, this seven-module long qualification focuses on the practices involved. Students will study modules in topics such as cellular machine tools, importing materials and quality control.
Who should study this course?
This course is aimed at individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in or learning the principles of biochemistry. Those who want to become a biochemist will first need to obtain a biochemistry degree. However, this course is a great way to find out what’s involved in this career and build basic understanding.
This home learning course has been specifically designed for those with little to no understanding of biochemistry. This means that students won’t need any prior qualifications or experience before they enrol with us. All we ask is that students have the motivation to engage in home study.
What happens after the course?
On successful completion of this course, students will be awarded a certificate from learndirect. This works as a great starter point for further study in biochemistry.

Entry Requirements
There is no experience or previous qualifications required for enrolment on this course. It is available to all students, of all academic backgrounds.
All course fees, inclusive of all payment plans including our Premium Credit Limited option, must be settled before certification can be ordered.
*You will have access to the course for 24 months.
Assessment Method
After each lesson there will be a question paper, which needs to be completed and submitted to your personal tutor for marking. This method of continual assessment ensures that your personal tutor can consistently monitor your progress and provide you with assistance throughout the duration of the course.
On successful completion of your course you will receive the learndirect Certificate of Completion of Training in Biochemistry.
Your course certificate will also state the number of CPD points/hours the course is eligible for.
