Employability

Combining education with practical life skills

We Call It Employability!

Unfortunately, unemployment is something we all may face at some point in our lives. When it comes to employability there are a few key things you can do to stay ahead of those around you.

52% of recruiters decide not to hire at all if the candidate is not right.

Where Do You Fit In?

If you have struggled with employment in the past, you will know that preparing for the job interviews is key. Taking time to prepare is just as important, if not more so than the actual interview itself.

But how do you become appealing to that 52%?

  • Resilience - perseverance will, in the long run, pay off more than sheer talent
  • The willingness to learn - employers are people too, they simply want to see in you the same thirst for knowledge that pushed them further
  • Being creative - “thinking out of the box” may well be overused, but there is a reason for it. Do you know what that is?

There is so much more to it. So, ask yourself: what is important to you?

Here’s just a quick snippet of how we can support you on your journey into employment:

Application Writing

Writing applications can stressful, but it doesn’t have to be.

Everyday employers receive countless job application forms to sift through. You will need to show you are perfect for the role by demonstrating personality, professionalism and confidence. It’s always important to focus on the person specification (NOT the job description!) of the vacancy. Make sure you match every skill
they ask for with an example, showing you have the relevant experience to turn you into the perfect candidate.

Communication Skills

Basic communication skills are something everyone should have but unfortunately not everyone does. Being able to speak to customers, patients, children, managers or rooms full of people is a fantastic skill to have and will benefit you throughout your working life, regardless of what industry you are in.

Don’t worry, we can help…

Motivation in Work

Motivation in the work place is essential. By setting realistic and achievable goals you will have something to work towards. That will keep you productive and motivated. Always commit to doing your best and ensure you stay positive and organised. It’s much easier to stay motivated when you’re happy!

Don’t worry, we can help…

Start as you mean to go on by creating a great first impression. Research, inquisitiveness and punctuality are just a few things to think about it. Adopt a professional attire for your photo, show yourself off and come across as smart as possible!

Social Media

Social media can be a fantastic tool and platform when it comes to marketing and advertising yourself. Take full advantage of this tool, not only to build your own personal brand, but also to research the positions and companies that interest you. In the 21st century, social media is a great way to put yourself on the recruiters’ radar. Just beware of its transparency, as employers will also conduct their due diligence on potential candidates.

Don’t worry, we can help…

Network

Networking involves speaking and sharing information with professional contacts. You can network in a formal or informal environment, but it will always be with likeminded individuals, interested in expanding knowledge and professional contacts. Many companies hold networking events for employees in the same industry to attend and get to know each other.

Don’t worry, we can help…

Job Boards

A job board is an employment website that deals specifically with employment or careers. Many employment websites act as aggregators, posting jobs from a range of employers and allowing candidates to apply for the positions advertised, directly via the platform. Make the best of your time by only applying to the jobs you are genuinely interested in, rather than sending off hundreds of generic applications. You will be far more likely to get interview that way.

A massive thank you to Solomon and the management team for all your support, encouragement and understanding in helping me secure my place on the Paramedic Science course. Although I’ve struggled with Maths and had doubts about progressing, Solomon encouraged me to believe in myself and take that next step. I really appreciate the affordable payment arrangement, the zero-deposit option and the fact that my 40% deposit has been kept in place. Solomon really is King Solomon! As the Bible tells us, King Solomon was renowned for his wisdom, and you certainly stand by your name. Your patience, wisdom and understanding have made a real difference. Thank you to the entire management team as well. I wish you all continued success, happiness and blessings in life. Highly appreciated and highly recommended!

Excellent Customer Service from Jaz – Payment Issue Resolved

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Jaz from learndirect's Customer Support Team for her professionalism and exceptional assistance in resolving a recent payment issue. On 30 October 2026, I made a payment of £679.01 to settle my outstanding course balance under a promotional offer. Although the payment was deducted from my bank account, it was not reflected in my Atom LMS payment history, and I received no confirmation or receipt. After sending several emails without receiving a response, I became increasingly concerned and frustrated. On 3 November, I contacted customer support through Atom LMS and was assisted by Jaz. Jaz was courteous, understanding, and professional throughout our conversation. She requested proof of payment, listened to my concerns, and promptly referred the issue to the finance team. Most importantly, she assured me that she would investigate the matter and provide an update that same day. True to her word, Jaz followed through on her commitment. Within a few hours, she confirmed that my payment had been located and correctly applied to my account, leaving an outstanding balance of £0 with no further payments required. Although I was disappointed with the initial lack of communication and the inconvenience caused, Jaz demonstrated the professionalism, accountability, and commitment to customer satisfaction that I believe every educational institution should strive to maintain. Her willingness to take ownership of the issue and ensure its resolution restored some of my confidence in learndirect's customer support. Jaz is truly an asset to learndirect, and her excellent service deserves recognition. Thank you, Jaz, for your outstanding assistance and for honoring your commitment. Your efforts are sincerely appreciated!
