About your Internship

If you like the idea of getting paid to teach and travel and want to be able to explore a stunning new country – our Paid Japan TEFL Internship is right up your street! Spend 12 amazing months exploring everything Japan has to offer, from the bright lights of Tokyo to traditional temples in mountaintop towns like Kōyasan, all which getting real teaching experience!

During your internship you’ll earn an amazing salary, which is yours to spend as you wish!

We’ll take the hassle out of finding somewhere to live by providing you with assistance obtaining long-term accommodation. We’ll also sort out your teaching placement, assist you with visa processes, provide ongoing in-country support, and give you an in-country cultural weekend, so you can get to know Japan. Basically, you’ll have everything sorted for you, leaving you free to focus on the fun bits.

The beauty of our internships is that we organise everything for you – from getting TEFL qualified to finding accommodation in-country, we’ve got your back!

Before you hop onto that plane, we’ll make sure you’re fully prepared with our UK-Government regulated, and US-Government approved, TEFL course plus an Internship Preparation Course, and a Teaching in Japan course, designed for your internship.

You’ll also benefit from full support before and during your internship through our dedicated Customer Support Team and our trusty in-country partners, who will be there for you every step of the way. From visa guidance and flight assistance to training and full job support. If you need anything, they’ll be there to help you!

You’ll be earning a salary of approximately £1300 - £1,800 per month (subject to exchange rates) and receive a stipend or reimbursement for work-related transport. What you do with your salary is, obviously, completely up to you but we know we’d be spending ours eating amazing sushi and ramen, riding the famous bullet trains, and seeing incredible Kabuki shows!

Where will you be placed?

You’ll complete your internship in one of the amazing destinations that our internship partners have across Japan, including Nagoya, Hokkaido, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, and Osaka. Our dedicated and experienced in-country partners will match you with the most suitable school for your skills and preferences.

Teaching in Japan Course

  • A 40-hour online ‘cultural orientation’, this course will take you through all the essentials you need to know about Japanese history, culture, and language, as well as explaining what it’s like to live and work in Japan.

Internship Preparation Course

  • Classroom Behaviour Course - learn how to effectively manage pupil behaviour in your TEFL classroom with our Classroom Behaviour Course. From making a strong first impression and creating a positive learning environment, to working with children with Special Education Needs and managing conflict - you'll be a behaviour expert by the end of this course.
  • Confidence Building Course - we know how daunting it can be taking your first steps into the TEFL classroom as a newly qualified teacher, that's why we've included this specialist course to give your confidence the boost it needs.
  • Writing Travel Blogs Course - whether you want to make some extra money, start a new hobby, or make your social media followers green with envy, this course will teach you how to write high-quality blogs - a great skill to have as an English teacher.

Inclusions

Interns must have a native or near-native level of English to enrol and be aged between 21 and 40 years old. Interns must also have a Bachelor's degree qualification and have had at least 12 years of schooling in English. Interns must have no criminal record and be in good health (must be confirmed with health check before departure), with no visible tattoos. Interns must also hold an International driving permit and be fully COVID-19 vaccinated. Interns need to be in a good financial position - able to pay for the internship before travel and cover additional expenses, e.g. flights, insurance, legalisation costs, visas and bills, before the first pay check is received. Interns will receive a full refund if their application is rejected by our overseas partners (XploreAsia).

Course Fees

All course fees, inclusive of all payment plans including our Premium Credit Limited option, must be settled before certification can be ordered.
