You begin with a Level 4 HNC, advance to a Level 5 HND (which qualifies as an HTQ), and then complete a top-up year at university to achieve a full bachelor's degree. This pathway enables you to enter employment earlier whilst maintaining options for further study.
These programmes welcome learners from diverse backgrounds, typically requiring applicants to be 18 or older with Level 3 qualifications (such as A-Levels) and GCSE-level English and Maths. However, relevant work experience and Recognition of Prior Learning may also be considered for those without traditional academic qualifications. These programmes are particularly suitable for career changers, mature students, and professionals seeking to advance their skills.
Online Degree Pathways are specifically designed around the needs of busy adults. They offer flexible scheduling where you can access materials and complete assignments at your own pace. These programmes require only modest amounts of scheduled study time per week and self-directed learning.
These Online Degree Pathway/HTQ programmes are eligible for 100% Student Finance funding, meaning you can access government loans to cover full tuition costs with no upfront payment required. Maintenance Grants may also be available for eligible students.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can obtain a Tuition Fee Loan from the Student Loan Company to cover your entire course cost. The Student Loan Company is a government organisation responsible for providing educational loans and grants to higher education students. These loans can cover tuition fees, living expenses, and other study-related costs. Your eligibility depends on various factors, including whether you've previously used student loan funding and your UK residency status. To apply, you submit your application directly to the Student Loan Company, we are available to support you with this process. Repayment of the Tuition Fee Loan begins only after you complete your studies and when your annual income exceeds £25,000.
HTQs are advanced vocational qualifications at Levels 4 and 5 that blend practical skills training with theoretical knowledge (the first 2 levels of the Online Degree Pathway). They're developed in partnership with leading employers to ensure the curriculum addresses real workplace requirements. These qualifications are equivalent to foundation degrees or Higher National Certificates and Diplomas, and carry a government quality assurance mark demonstrating they meet specific industry standards.
Yes, HTQs are highly valued by employers because they're developed in direct collaboration with industry leaders. This ensures graduates possess the specific skills and knowledge that organisations require. The Chartered Management Institute found that managers with professional qualifications earn £8,000 more annually than their unqualified peers, highlighting the career impact of these credentials.
Currently, HTQ programmes are primarily available to UK residents due to funding restrictions.
Comprehensive support typically includes dedicated tutoring and progress monitoring, access to subject specialists for guidance, extensive online resources including digital textbooks, peer collaboration opportunities through discussion forums and study groups.
Most programmes require Level 3 qualifications such as A-Levels, BTEC Extended Diplomas, or equivalent, plus GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above. Some programmes may accept relevant work experience in lieu of formal qualifications. Specific requirements vary by course and provider, with some programmes having additional subject-specific prerequisites.
These programmes are designed for efficient completion, with Level 4 HNC programmes typically taking 9-12 months and Level 5 HND programmes taking 9-12 months. The exact duration depends on the amount of time you can dedicate to your studies.
