Humans, like any other living species, go through various stages of growth throughout their lives. We come into the world as newborns and hopefully live a full life, well into old age.
During this time, we transition from childhood to adulthood. With each stage of growth presenting its own developmental challenges, both physically and mentally.
If you’re fascinated by human behaviour and want to better understand why we think, act and feel the way we do at different stages in life, this course is for you. This Level 3 Human Growth and Development in Social Care online course allows you to explore human development in fine detail.
You will learn all about growth from an early age. Looking at everything from a child’s physical and cognitive development to the way they process language, communicate and explore their emotions.
You will examine theories around how we learn, the importance of objects in interpersonal relationships and the different bonds between people.
In addition to this, you will gain a detailed understanding of the social factors that can affect development. From the way disability impacts families to the effect society’s prejudices and stereotypes has on the elderly.
You will also explore how all of the above relates to social care. So you have a better understanding of how social services can cater to the need of individuals that require support from the system.

Entry Requirements
There is no experience or previous qualifications required for enrolment on this course. It is available to all students, of all academic backgrounds.
All course fees, inclusive of all payment plans including our Premium Credit Limited option, must be settled before certification can be ordered.
*You will have access to the course for 24 months.
Assessment Method
After each lesson there will be a question paper, which needs to be completed and submitted to your personal tutor for marking. This method of continual assessment ensures that your personal tutor can consistently monitor your progress and provide you with assistance throughout the duration of the course.

Level 3 Human Growth and Development in Social Care Certificate of Achievement
The course has been endorsed under the Quality Licence Scheme. This means that learndirect has undergone an external quality check to ensure that the organisation and the courses it offers, meet defined quality criteria. The completion of this course alone does not lead to a regulated qualification* but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills gained. The Learner Unit Summary may be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this subject. To this end the learning outcomes of the course have been benchmarked at Level 3 against level descriptors published by Ofqual, to indicate the depth of study and level of demand/complexity involved in successful completion by the learner.
