It also looks at the different types of layout features and how these can impact the reader. All of the reading skills that you will look at will be tested in quizzes at the end of each section, ensuring that you are ready to sit your final exam.
  • Writing – This module looks at the best way to write certain pieces. This may include letters, newspaper articles, emails and blogs amongst others. This area will also test your spelling, punctuation and grammar skills, ensuring that you are ready to sit your final exam.
  • Speaking, Listening and Communication – The speaking, listening and communication (SLC) element of English functional skills is one of the most useful and fun areas to strengthen. This module helps you prepare for the SLC exam by showing you examples of the best ways to tackle everyday situations at home and in the workplace. Assessment

Once you’re ready to book your exam, please contact upskilluk@learndirect.com.

You will be assessed via an online remotely invigilated exam that you can take from the comfort of your own home.

Following your 1:1 tutorials you’ll gauge when you are nearly exam ready. At this time you can choose to do one marked mock for English and another for maths. Your tutor will mark each, give you detailed feedback and if appropriate highlight further areas for you to strengthen.

All instalment plans must be paid and up to date before an exam can be booked. In addition, exams cannot be booked for dates before the final payment is successfully made. For example, if two monthly payments are due in the future, an exam can be booked, but the exam date will be after the final payment is received.
