Overview

Whilst dental procedures are often routine and run according to plan, there will be instances where emergencies occur. The aim of this module is to familiarise you with the principles of handling medical emergencies that commonly occur within dentistry. Within the module we will look at preventing medical emergencies, managing emergencies when they occur and the most common emergencies you may face.

Modules

On completion of this CPD course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the principles of first aid
  • Explain how to assist during a medical emergency
  • Explain CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) and ABC (airway, breathing, circulation)
  • Pass the 20 minute assessment

Requirements

There is no experience or previous qualifications required for enrolment on this course. It is available to all students, of all academic backgrounds.

Qualifications

On successful completion of your course you will receive the learndirect Certificate of Completion of Training in Medical Emergencies (DNNET II vol 1).

Your course certificate will also state the number of CPD points/hours the course is eligible for.
