Overview

Effective infection control protocol is essential in any healthcare environment. The purpose of this module is to develop an understanding of the need to apply effective infection prevention and control measures in the dental setting and reduce potential risk factors to patients and members of the dental team. The Infection Control modules will look at infection control, standard precautions that need to be put in place, instrument decontamination and proper waste disposal.

Modules

On completion of this CPD course, you should be able to:

  • Identify the principles and causes of infection
  • State the cleaning methods and systems for limiting infection
  • Describe the methods of sterilisation in the dental environment
  • Discuss the preparation of environments for clinical procedures.
  • To pass the 20-minute assessment

Requirements

There is no experience or previous qualifications required for enrolment on this course. It is available to all students, of all academic backgrounds.

Qualifications

On successful completion of your course you will receive the learndirect Certificate of Completion of Training in Infection Control (DNNET II vol 1).

Your course certificate will also state the number of CPD points/hours the course is eligible for.
