Studying your A Level

Accounting is the practice of measurement, processing, and communication of financial and non-financial information about economic entities such as businesses.

Embarking on an A Level Accounting course allows you to learn and understand accounting, record keeping, decision making and planning. And, more significantly, how these areas are all connected, especially in relation to running a business.

Through your studies, you will develop an understanding of the principles of ethical behaviour, accounting principles and financial accounting techniques.

You will learn formulae used for computations and use the results to inform judgements, solve problems and make decisions.

Upon completion of your A Level Accounting, you will be able to write effectively to report to stakeholders. You will be able to make logical arguments and provide sound judgements based on analysis of available evidence.

This A Level course was designed so that anyone can access it, regardless of their prior qualifications or professional background.

This course bundle includes the course material and the exams you need to gain you A Level Accounting.

The exams will be made up of two papers, covering much of the course material asked in the form of multiple-choice questions, short answer questions, structured questions and extended answer questions.

Your exams will be at an exam centre near to you. We will aim to find you a place within 50 miles of your postcode, subject to centre capacity and exam availability.

Getting Started

Enrolment is easy. You don’t have to wait for a specific date to register. Once you enrol you will have access to your course materials and control your study time. As there are no deadlines, or restrictions to how you plan your studies, you can decide when to learn.

As you work through the units, you will find assignments to complete. These are submitted online and your tutor will mark your work and offer you feedback. This is important to help you make the most of your coursework and to help you achieve your qualification.

The only specific deadline to work towards is your exam – exam sittings are held once per year in May or June.

You can also get in touch with your tutor through our world-class learning platform. Your expert tutor will be there every step of the way to address any questions or challenges.

Pursuing your career

An A Level in Accounting can allow you to go on to study related subjects at university. However, your desired university will have entry requirements so be sure to check the grade required in this and associated subjects.

Great news! To start this course there are no pre-entry requirements. However, GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English Language would be an advantage. You will need a computer, tablet or mobile device and an internet connection.

At the end of each unit you will find a Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA). This is completed online and submitted to your tutor. Once assessed your tutor will return your work complete with its final grade and feedback. Once you’ve successfully passed each assignment you’ll be ready to take your exam!

All instalment plans must be paid and up to date before an exam can be booked. In addition, exams cannot be booked for dates before the final payment is successfully made. For example, if two monthly payments are due in the future, an exam can be booked, but the exam date will be after the final payment is received.
