Mentorship in Health and Social Care

This course is designed to prepare a range of health and social care professionals for their role as mentors within the health and social care setting.

The course will prepare individuals critically to reflect, explore and apply principles of mentorship, work-based learning and assessment within their practice settings.

The Learning Outcomes for this course are:

  • Demonstrate how an environment may be created in which lifelong learning and development are fostered.
  • Apply learning and teaching strategies to ensure effective learning experiences and the opportunity to achieve learning outcomes.
  • Effectively fulfil the role of the assessor, demonstrating the ability to assess performance against criteria.
  • Review the role as a mentor in facilitating effective learning in the workplace underpinned by an identified professional value base.
  • Contribute to the informal and formal evaluation of the learning experience.
  • Critically evaluate how an environment may be created in which lifelong learning and development is fostered.
  • Critically analyse learning and teaching strategies to ensure effective learning experiences and the opportunity to achieve learning outcomes.
  • Apply and analyse principles of assessment, including direct observation, to the demonstration of competence, utilising appropriate criteria.
  • Critically appraise the role of mentor in facilitating effective learning in the workplace underpinned by an identified professional value base.

Entry Requirements

There is no experience or previous qualifications required for enrolment on this course. It is available to all students, of all academic backgrounds.

All course fees, inclusive of all payment plans including our Premium Credit Limited option, must be settled before certification can be ordered.

Assessment Method

After each lesson there will be a question paper, which needs to be completed and submitted to your personal tutor for marking. This method of continual assessment ensures that your personal tutor can consistently monitor your progress and provide you with assistance throughout the duration of the course.
