Elephants are intelligent creatures that have complex social lives. This Level 3 Award in Elephant Studies will give you a sound knowledge base around elephant evolution, biology, ecology, and behaviour.
You will have the chance to explore the important conservation work that is currently taking place to protect this magnificent species. In addition, the qualification will help you to gain an understanding of how elephants respond in captivity and how you can provide good care and promote the welfare of these large mammals.

Unit 2: Elephants in Captivity and Conservation
On completing this second unit, students will be able to:
- Understand the principles of keeping elephants in captivity
- Know common health problems associated with elephants in captivity
- Know common behavioural problems of elephants in captivity
- Understand the principles of elephant conservation
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but learners must be aged 16 or over.

Average completion timeframe
You have 24 months to complete your course.
Certification Timeframe
Learners can expect their certification within 6 months of completing the course, following the (EQA) External Quality Assurance of assessment.
Course Fees
All course fees, inclusive of all payment plans including our Premium Credit Limited option, must be settled before certification can be ordered.
*You will have access to the course for 24 months.
To successfully gain the Level 3 Award in Elephant Studies, students must complete all units.
You will be assessed through internal assessments conducted online at the end of each unit and assessed by one of our qualified animal tutors.
When are you assessed?
As you’re in control of how you learn, you’re also in charge of when you hand in your assignments.
This enables you to take as long as you need to thoroughly understand the unit before completing any assignments.
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded a Level 3 Award in Elephant Studies, an Ofqual regulated qualification (Qualification Number: 603/7703/3).
If you are currently working or volunteering with elephants and you’d like to top up your knowledge base, then this Award qualification is suitable for you. Alternatively, if you’re simply interested in learning more about the largest land mammals walking the earth today then this course will introduce you to these amazing creatures!

By studying for a Zookeeping Level 3 Diploma (RQF), you not only enhance your career prospects, but you can also become eligible for ZSL Fellowship. The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is an international conservation charity that is dedicated to ensuring that wildlife habitats continue to thrive.
Through science, field conservation and the work of ZSL London and ZSL Whipsnade Zoos, habitats are getting the help they need, continuously tackling the challenges that come their way. By undertaking the Zookeeping Level 3 Diploma (RQF), you can apply for a Fellowship. If successful, you will get unlimited access to both zoos and borrowing rights to zoological texts.
Also, if you undergo your practical training at ZSL London, you may have an opportunity to apply for a job role at the zoo should you be successful. The career possibilities are far and wide.
