A Level Physics (including exam and practical)

Key Points

  • Gain a deeper understanding of key scientific principles.
  • Study everything from Particle Physics to Astrophysics.
  • Find out the way the universe works.
  • Complete this A Level in as little as 12 months.
  • Study the course and sit the exams with this course bundle.

Studying your A Level

Physics at A Level gives you the opportunity to study the phenomena of the universe and the theories which underpin it.

During your course you will study the various facets of Physics including Particles and Radiation, Nuclear Physics, Astrophysics and Mechanics.

As you explore each of these subjects you will cover a range of topics including supernovas and black holes, molecular kinetic theory, quarks and antiquarks.

You will gain a superior understanding of the key principles which will allow you to develop hypotheses of your own in preparation for your further study.

This course bundle gives you access to all the A Level Physics course material as well as the three exams you’ll need to pass to gain your qualification.

The exams will cover everything from periodic motion to thermal physics and everything in between, presented as multiple-choice, short and long answer questions.

While the exams will determine your passing grade, practical knowledge is essential to the sciences. That is why you have the option of taking the practical exam alongside your studies. A separate endorsement of practical skills will be taken alongside the A Level. This will be assessed by teachers and will be based on direct observation of students’ competency in a range of skills that are not assessable in written exams.

Note that you will have to book your practical exams in advance of your written exams,  so take that into account when planning your studies.

Upon completion of the course, you will have the knowledge required to take your study of physics to degree level and beyond.

Getting Started

learndirect is one of the UK's leading providers of distance learning courses. Which makes us experts at providing you with a comprehensive A Level Physics course.

This allows you to build your learning around your work, family and other commitments. There are no classrooms, no evening classes and no timetables. The only specific deadline to work towards is your exam – exam sittings are held once per year in May or June.

Because your course is entirely online you can study at a pace that suits you. Which means you can complete the course as quickly (or as slowly) as you like.

Our online student portal has all the learning materials you need to complete your course. As soon as you’ve enrolled it’ll be ready and waiting for you to begin.

You will also get the support of a dedicated and qualified tutor throughout the course. They will provide guidance and feedback on your assignments as well as be on hand for any advice.

Ultimately this allows you to study and complete your A Level in Physics in a manner that reflects your lifestyle, commitments and your approach to learning.

Pursuing your career

An A Level in Physics can allow you to go on to study Physics at university. However, your desired university will have entry requirements so be sure to check the grade required in this and associated subjects.

Great news! There are no entry requirements for the course. However, GCSE grade C or above in Physics, Maths and English Language would be an advantage. You will need access to a computer or tablet and an internet connection.

*You will have access to the course for 18 months only. You can purchase course extensions here

At the end of each unit you will find a Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA). This is completed online and submitted to your tutor. Once assessed your tutor will return your work complete with its final grade and feedback. Once you’ve successfully passed each assignment you’ll be ready to take your exam!

All instalment plans must be paid and up to date before an exam can be booked. In addition, exams cannot be booked for dates before the final payment is successfully made. For example, if two monthly payments are due in the future, an exam can be booked, but the exam date will be after the final payment is received.
