Overview

Prosthetic procedures are commonplace in dental practice. This module looks at the dental nurse’s role in providing chair-side support during prosthetic procedures. We will identify the types of prostheses used, the stages of the procedure and patient aftercare. All of these areas will be linked to the expectations of the nurse and their role in supporting colleagues and patients throughout.

Modules

On completion of this CPD course, you will be able to:

  • Identify indications for treatment
  • Prepare the surgery for prosthodontic procedures
  • Provide support during prosthetic procedures
  • Explain the purpose and features of different prostheses
  • Identify the dental nurse's role and the steps required during different stages of the design and fitting process
  • Explain relevant aftercare advice
  • Identify common problems with dentures
  • Pass the 20-minute assessment

Requirements

There is no experience or previous qualifications required for enrolment on this course. It is available to all students, of all academic backgrounds.

Qualifications

On successful completion of your course you will receive the learndirect Certificate of Completion of Training in Prosthetic Procedures (DNNET II vol 2).

Your course certificate will also state the number of CPD points/hours the course is eligible for.
