PHX Training – a provider of learndirect across Cumbria, Lancashire and Merseyside – has named Adrian Ross as employee of the year.
After being made redundant from his job, Adrian from Workington joined PHX Training as a tutor in May 2014, receiving promotion to centre manager five months later.
Adrian travels between three of the company’s Cumbrian bases, where he oversees the day-to-day running of centres in Workington, Carlisle and Penrith, leading teams of trainers helping learners to gain key qualifications and get into work.
He was nominated for the award by his line manager Lesley Taylor, who has praised Adrian for his work ethic and determination to improve prospects for local people.
Lesley said: “Adrian always goes above and beyond his role. When he first joined PHX, it quickly became clear he had a lot of potential. Since being made manager, he has managed to increase performance in all three of his centres, with job outcomes in the area at their highest.
“His positive approach to the tasks in hand, especially during challenging periods, reflects his dedication to making a difference to learners.”
Adrian said: “It was totally unexpected, I just go to work and get on with my job, so it was a nice surprise to hear my name announced.”
PHX Training operates a programme which combines online resources with face-to-face facilities and helps to give unemployed people the skills they need to find jobs.
