Learning at work

If you want to learn on the job, we can help – whether you’re in work already or are looking for a job.

Apprenticeships are work-based, so you’ll earn a salary while you learn. If you don’t have a job yet, don’t worry – for most subjects we can help you find an employer to do your Apprenticeship with. We offer Apprenticeships in a wide range of industry areas.

All your learning will be done on the job and using our online learning portal. Your trainer assessor will support you throughout by visiting you at work, by phone or through interactive online support. Apprenticeships generally take between 12 to 24 months.

Our vocational qualifications can be completed more quickly. They’re ideal if you’re already working, sponsored by an employer or doing voluntary work or a work placement. You’ll be assessed on the day-to-day things you do at work (or in a work-like setting) and you can complete your learning from home, work, or anywhere you have an internet connection.

To see how you’re getting on, you’ll have regular progress reviews with your tutor – which can be done face-to-face at one of our centres, as well as by phone and email.  How long it takes depends on how many hours a week you can spend on your learning. On average, it takes around six to nine months to gain a vocational certificate.

You can do a vocational certificate with us in:

Our Traineeships are perfect if you’re aged 16-24 and want to get the experience to kick start your career and get noticed by an employer. You’ll do a placement to give you the skills that employers are looking for and build your confidence for future jobs.

You’ll also have the chance to develop skills to prepare you for work, including CV writing, interview techniques, time management and problem solving at work.
