We’ve been supplying training and support for individuals and SMEs to start and develop their businesses since the early 1980s, as learndirect and JHP. Now the two companies have merged, the offer has become an extensive embedded service for our customers.
Our enterprise service is headed by Ian Carlier, enterprise director. Ian’s responsible for developing and delivering this service to assist people in moving into self-employment, or developing their entrepreneurial and enterprise skills.
Ian has extensive experience in enterprise development. His achievements include:
- Developing a new enterprise support, training and qualification centre for an organisation in the West Midlands. The company became the largest deliverer of enterprise support and self-employment starts/survivals in the region and the first centre of excellence in business support and enterprise development in the UK.
- Developing and advising organisations and government departments on enterprise processes, products, services, projects and procedures on a national and international basis.
- Writing successful tenders, creating and developing programmes and directing or managing contract delivery through Department for Work and Pensions, Skills Funding Agency, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, Regional Development Agencies, Local Authorities and the Ministry of Justice. This successful portfolio of contracts won and delivered include Enterprise Rehearsal, New Deal (self-employment option), Flexible New Deal and Business Link enterprise services. Most recently it includes learndirect’s contract to deliver the New Enterprise Allowance across Mercia and the Midland Shires as well as parts of Birmingham and Solihull.
Our enterprise team, along with supply chain and network partners, are now embedding a complete and innovative support solution to customers across a large area of the UK with an intention to offer the service nationally.
