AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) reschedule the launch date for new qualifications to September 2022 from February 2022

AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) have announced that their new Q2022 qualifications will be launched in September 2022 instead of February 2022, to “ensure a smooth launch”.

Originally, students had until June 2023 to complete their course on the Q2016 qualification, but now they have until November 2023 to achieve their Foundation, Advanced or Professional Level qualification on the existing platform.
While the new system is ready to go, AAT have decided to extend the testing time to make sure that the transition is as easy as possible for all involved.

Suzie Webb, Director of Education & Development, AAT, says, “AAT project teams have been working incredibly hard to develop our new qualifications and assessment platform. Whilst the new qualifications and assessments are now ready to be deployed, we’re extending our testing time to ensure a smooth launch. Our intention is now to run a controlled pilot from early 2022 with selected training providers – using a small selection of the new qualifications – prior to a full launch in September. This is not a decision which we’ve taken lightly and we’re working closely with our different stakeholders to transition to the new date.

As one of the UK’s largest online learning providers, learndirect delivers a range of accredited AAT courses, of which will be updated when the new qualifications are launched.

The key dates learners need to know are as follows:
  • 31 August 2022: Last registration date for AQ2016 Foundation, Advanced and Professional level accounting and bookkeeping qualifications and the Access Award in Accounting Software, Bookkeeping and Business Skills qualifications
  • 1 September 2022: First registration date for Qualifications 2022, Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 qualifications
  • 30 September 2023: Last opportunity to sit assessments on any of the current AQ2016 Foundation, Advanced and Professional level qualifications. You'll need to ensure you have planned synoptic assessment activity in line with the synoptic assessment schedule
  • 30 November 2023: Final certificate date for the AQ2016 Foundation, Advanced and Professional level qualifications
