Buying for your business

learndirect’s eCourses are designed to provide a flexible and cost effective solution for staff training. You can purchase eCourses in any combination or quantity, entirely on-demand, and your colleagues can access their training online. As the “purchaser”, you are able to monitor learner progress including start date, completion date etc. Instructions are provided following your purchase.


Volume discounts are applied automatically when you purchase eCourses through our online store. Unless otherwise stated, these are; 10% discount when you buy a course for 5 or more people, and 15% for 25 or more people. Selected courses may have other discount scales.

Please note that voucher codes (ie discount codes that are issued as part of a promotion) can’t be used in conjunction with other discounts.

Quotes for large orders:
Deep discounts are usually available for large orders. Employers requiring large volumes (100+ enrolments) are encouraged to contact us on 0845 8720215 to discuss your requirements for deploying e-learning across your organisation. We can support your online training with customised Learner Management Systems, or even populate your own LMS with course content.

Buying Online

Buying online provides you with immediate access to eCourses and is ideal for ad hoc purchases and small quantities of courses.

For yourself:
If you are buying a course for yourself, the course will be added to your “my courses” page which you will see once you’ve logged in with the details we provide to you by email.

For others:
To buy eCourses for other people, simply tick the box in the basket page. Once you have paid online, you will receive an “enrolment key” (an access code for the course) for each individual learner, together with a learner registration link. You then forward the enrolment key and link to your colleague, and they can start the course straight away. If you bought, say, ten copies of the course, you would receive 10 enrolment keys.

Invoice billing
As an alternative to online payment, you can complete our order form and return it via email. We will then raise an invoice. Course access (via enrolment keys) is provided within 5 working days of receipt of payment.
Please note there is a minimum order of £100 for this method of payment.

Enrolment keys

Enrolment keys must be used within 6 months of issue. Once an enrolment key is activated, the learner will have a fixed period of time to complete the course. This “course access period” depends on the individual course (see individual course information).

Tracking learner progress

There is a separate “back office” administration system that allows you, as a manager, to view a learner’s progress.

To view the history record of an individual user
Once you’ve logged in to the administration site, the system will bring up the “Find User” page. Enter either the user’s ID, first name or last name and click the search button. Then go to the User menu and click on “User History”. Then click the “Report” button.

To view the history record of all users in a group or in multiple groups
Logging in to the administration site the system brings up the “Find User” page. Select the group or multiple groups you wish to report on from this page and click the “Search” button. From here, press the “History Report” button. Then, from the following page, click the “Report” button. This will display a record of all the courses that your staff have accessed. By clicking on an individual course title you can then drill down to a second reporting level which will provide more detailed information. If you can’t find a learner who you’ve definitely issued an enrolment code to, then it means they haven’t registered themselves on the system or activated their course yet. The reports can be downloaded into a CSV file (Excel spreadsheet).
