Overview

Columbia University Press has defined nutrition as the "study of the materials that nourish an organism and of the manner in which the separate components are used for maintenance, repair, growth, and reproduction."

This course aims to introduce the student to the importance of nutrition in our everyday lives, and the components that make up this interesting subject. The student will also consider the importance of diets, their effects and their construction.

The cell and cell energy - the cell

The environment inside the cell

The need for the cell to self-cleanse

Allergies/intolerances/sensitivities

The micro-minerals and their contribution to the cell

Designing supplementary programmes

Designing diets

Composition of foods

The vitamins:

  • How they activate enzymes
  • How they contribute to cell energy
  • How they increase the life force

Bowel flora: How it aids cleansing and the maintenance of a good environment inside the body

Characteristics of the main foods -

  • suppressive v.s elimination foods

Requirements

There is no experience or previous qualifications required for enrolment on this course. It is available to all students, of all academic backgrounds.
