About your Diploma

Whether you’re a caregiver of a reptile or amphibian pet or you want a job that enables you to work with them directly, a herpetology diploma will provide you with the knowledge you need.

Through a herpetology diploma you’ll not only understand how the different species came to be but their unique anatomy, behaviours and requirements for survival. Some species of reptiles are among the oldest in existence so studying them in detail can broaden your understanding of evolutionary theory.

By studying this branch of zoology, you’ll learn that these creatures are not only fascinating to look at, but they also occupy an important role in nature. Controlling pest populations, minimising the spread of disease and contributing to medical advancements. You will also understand the risks to their existence and the need for increased conservation efforts.

With this knowledge, you’ll be eligible for roles working with reptiles and amphibians or advocating on their behalf. Seeking employment in zoos or wildlife conservations, and with further study, you could travel the world conducting research on reptilian and amphibian species as a herpetologist.
