Unit 3: Site Surveying and Analysis in Garden Design

On completion of this module, you will:

  • Be able to survey and measure a site
  • Be able to record site characteristics
  • Be able to determine soil characteristics

Unit 4: Using Scale Drawings in Garden Design

On completion of this module, you will:

  • Be able to draft a site plan to scale
  • Be able to draft a site elevation to scale

Unit 5: Hard Landscaping Materials in Garden Design

On completion of this module, you will:

  • Understand hard landscaping materials used in garden design
  • Be able to select appropriate hard landscaping materials
  • Understand hard landscaping construction techniques in garden design

Unit 6: Garden Design Processes

On completion of this module, you will:

  • Understand the design process in relation to garden design
  • Understand the importance of the client brief
  • Understand garden design styles and themes

Unit 7: Creating Garden Design Schemes

On completion of this module, you will:

  • Understand ways to express design ideas
  • Be able to create a garden design scheme to meet a client brief
  • Be able to select materials, lighting and furniture suitable for a garden design scheme
  • Be able to select and design a planting scheme for a garden design

Unit 8: Drawing and Presenting Garden Design Schemes

On completion of this module, you will:

Unit 9: Setting Up a Garden Design Business

On completion of this module, you will:

  • Understand how to set up a garden design business
  • Understand how to work with suppliers and clients
  • Be able to compile marketing material

Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements however learners should have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy and numeracy, or equivalent.

The recommended minimum age for this qualification is 16 years.

Average Completion Timeframe

The total Qualification Time (TQT) for this course is 391 hours. The length of time this takes to complete is up to you, as your learning will be self-paced.

You will have access to the course for 24 months.

Assessment Requirements

You will be assessed through a variety of methods including written assignments, online tasks, records of oral or written questions, workbooks, and/or other portfolio evidence.

All learning outcomes and assessment criteria must be met to achieve a pass - there is no grading.

Certification Timeframe

Learners can expect their certification within 6 months of completing and passing the course.
