Our Retail Management Advanced Apprenticeship usually lasts 12-18 months. During which you’ll complete both practical on-the-job-training to get real experience, and learning that develops your knowledge and understanding of your job.
Your daily activities could include:
- Managing small teams in medium to large stores
- Managing small areas of the shop floor or stockroom in medium to large organisations
- Managing a small team of individuals and the day-to-day operations of the store
You’ll work at least 30 hours a week. The hours and days you work could depend on your employer. Shift work including evenings, weekends and public holidays is common in this industry.
Once you’ve achieved your Apprenticeship, you could go on to complete further education and qualifications, such as a Higher Apprenticeship in Management. You could also complete Advanced Apprenticeships or qualifications in subjects related to retail management, like customer service or sales.
After your Apprenticeship, you could also complete further training to progress your career to senior roles such as area manager or a wide range of other managerial roles within retail.
