Belfast Metropolitan College are celebrating after winning learndirect’s Working with Employers Award which recognises learning centres who work with local businesses to support learners.
Belfast Metropolitan College became a provider of learndirect skills and qualifications last year and have already achieved great results. Belfast Met have worked successfully to deliver on-line learning through learndirect to a number of large organisations. The Workforce Development Unit of the College have worked closely with learndirect staff to develop a blended learning programme called PACE which is aimed at delivering ILM management awards and certifications in the workplace.
The programme links learndirect online courses with face to face delivery seminars and Belfast Met are currently piloting this approach with two local employers CIC Ltd and Belfast Health and Social Services Trust and will be working with additional companies this year.
George Dines, Business Development Executive with Belfast Metropolitan College says “Using learndirect has enabled us to respond effectively to the needs of local businesses – the flexibility of a blended learning approach allows staff to learn at a time and place that suits their workload.”
BBC Northern Ireland Presenter, Donna Traynor hosted the awards and says, “It was a humbling experience to host this awards ceremony and I wish Belfast Metropolitan College the best of luck in representing Northern Ireland at the National Awards Ceremony in London next month.”
