learndirect kick starts enterprise service

learndirect is delighted to have been approved as an award centre by the UK standards setting body for business support and enterprise development.

With Global Entrepreneurship Week in full swing, the SFEDI Award tops off the start of a new enterprise service for learndirect to provide support to people looking to move into self-employment.

The award status will allow learndirect to offer enterprise and business start qualifications to a wide variety of customers as well as providing level 3 qualifications in enterprise coaching to learndirect staff to ensure they are providing the best possible service.

As part of the new service, learndirect will provide a wide range of support from one-to-one guidance, workshops and qualifications through to advice on setting up a business and continued support once it’s up and running.

The support will initially be available to Work Programme clients, with plans to roll this out further in the future and will be provided through group work, face-to-face and online support.

Driving the service forward is a newly appointed Enterprise Director for the organisation. Ian Carlier joins learndirect with extensive experience in enterprise development, having run his own small and medium sized businesses since the 1980’s.

Ian said: “It’s fantastic news to have been successful in becoming a SFEDI Awards centre. It’s really exciting to join learndirect at this time. I’m particularly passionate about giving people the skills they need to take their entrepreneurial spirit to the next level and I’m looking forward to growing our enterprise services in the coming months across the UK and Internationally.”
