Business Administration is relevant to hundreds of job roles – so it’s a great foundation for getting into any industry – from retail or banking to hospitality or healthcare. You could become an administrator, receptionist or legal or medical secretary. During your Apprenticeship you’ll develop skills that are valuable to employers in any sector.

    • Our Business Administration Intermediate Apprenticeship usually lasts 12-18 months. During which you’ll complete both practical on-the-job-training to get real experience, and learning that develops your knowledge and understanding of your job.

      Your daily activities could include:

      • making and receiving telephone calls
      • arranging travel, meetings and events
      • handling mail

      You’ll work at least 30 hours a week. The hours and days you work could depend on your employer. Shift work including evenings and weekends is common in the retail, leisure and contact centre industries.

      Once you’ve achieved your Apprenticeship, you could go on to complete further education and qualifications, such as a Business Administration Advanced Apprenticeship. You could also complete Advanced Apprenticeships or qualifications in subjects related to business administration, like customer service, retail, or recruitment.

      After your Apprenticeship, you could also complete further training to progress your career to senior roles such as administration executive/officer, administration team leader, personal assistant or secretary.

    • During the intermediate Apprenticeship you'll complete the following qualifications:

      • Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration
      • Functional Skills qualification in English, maths and/or IT
      • Personal learning and thinking skills (PLTS)
      • Employee rights and responsibilities

      Your diploma is built from a selection of mandatory and optional units. We’ll help you put together the right combination to fit your job role and the way you want to develop your career.

      Mandatory:
      • Communication in a business environment
      • Manage personal performance and development
      • Develop working relationships with colleagues
      • Principles of providing administrative services
      • Principles of business document production and information management
      • Understand employer organisations

      Optional: you’ll choose four to 11 units from the optional section. Popular choices include:
      • Provide reception services
      • Produce business documents
      • Handle mail
      • Use and maintain office equipment

      This is just a selection - there are further optional units available.

    • There are no formal entry requirements but you'll need to have a basic level of English and maths. Once you've attended an interview, and are successful, we'll place you in an appropriate role if you're not already employed in a business administration setting.

      This Apprenticeship is available in England only.

    • You’ll be paid at least the current minimum wage rate for apprentices, but it could be more than that. After your Apprenticeship, if you’re employed as an administrative assistant or junior secretary, your salary could be from £12,000 to £20,000 a year according to the National Careers Service.

      • dealing with internal and external correspondence
      • producing documents and presentations
      • managing resources, administration systems, office equipment and facilities

      You’ll work at least 30 hours a week. The hours and days you work could depend on your employer. Shift work including evenings and weekends is common in the retail, leisure and contact centre industries.

      Once you’ve achieved your Apprenticeship, you could go on to complete further education and qualifications, such as a Business Administration Higher Apprenticeship. You could develop your managerial skills or also complete an Advanced Apprenticeship or qualification in subjects related to business administration, like customer service, retail, or recruitment. After your Apprenticeship, you could also complete further training to progress your career to senior roles such as office manager, administration team leader or a wide range of other managerial roles within business.

    • During the Advanced Apprenticeship you'll complete the following qualifications:

      • Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration
      • Functional Skills qualification in English, maths and/or IT
      • Personal learning and thinking skills (PLTS)
      • Employee rights and responsibilities

      Your diploma is built from a selection of mandatory and optional units. We’ll help you put together the right combination to fit your job role and the way you want to develop your career.

      Mandatory:
      • Communicate in a business environment
      • Manage personal and professional development
      • Principles of business communication and information
      • Principles of administration
      • Principles of business


      Optional: you’ll choose four to eleven units from the optional section. Popular choices include:
      • Contribute to the improvement of business performance
      • Deliver a presentation
      • Create bespoke business documents
      • Manage an office facility

      This is just a selection - there are further optional units available

    • You'll need to have a Level 2 qualification such as GCSEs at grades A* to C, BTEC First Diploma, intermediate Apprenticeship or relevant work experience. Once you've attended an interview, and are successful, we'll place you in an appropriate role if you're not already employed in a business administration setting.

      This Apprenticeship is available in England only.

    • You’ll be paid at least the current minimum wage rate for apprentices, but it could be more than that. After your Apprenticeship, if you’re employed as a personal assistant or office manager your salary could be from £18,000 to £25,000 a year according to the National Career Service.
