Advanced Management Apprenticeship

Every business needs mangers - so it’s a great foundation for getting into any industry - from retail or banking to recruitment or healthcare. You could become a fist line/assistant/trainee manager or senior supervisor. During your Apprenticeship you’ll develop skills that are valuable to employers in any sector.

Earning potential
  • Our Management Advanced Apprenticeship usually lasts 12-18 months. During which you’ll complete both practical on-the-job-training to get real experience, and learning that develops your knowledge and understanding of your job.

    • Your daily activities could include:
    • planning allocating and monitoring the work of a team
    • managing conflict and resolving problems
    • project management

    You’ll work at least 30 hours a week. The hours and days you work could depend on your employer. Shift work including evenings and weekends is common in the retail, leisure and contact centre industries.

    Once you’ve achieved your Apprenticeship, you could go on to complete further education and qualifications, such as a Management Higher Apprenticeship. You could also complete Advanced Apprenticeships or qualifications in subjects related to management, like customer service, retail, or sales.

    After your Apprenticeship, you could also complete further training to progress your career to senior roles such as department manager, area manager or a wide range of other managerial roles within business.

  • During the advanced Apprenticeship you'll complete the following qualifications:

    • Level 3 Diploma in Management
    • Functional Skills qualification in English and maths
    • Personal learning and thinking skills (PLTS)
    • Employee rights and responsibilities

    Your diploma is built from a selection of mandatory and optional units. We’ll help you put together the right combination to fit your job role and the way you want to develop your career.


    • Manage personal and professional development
    • Manage team performance
    • Principles of leadership and management
    • Principles of people management
    • Principles of business

    Optional: you’ll choose five to nine units from the optional section.

    Popular choices include:

    • Manage individuals' development in the workplace
    • Chair and lead meetings
    • Participate in a project
    • Manage a budget
    • Contribute to the improvement of business performance

    This is just a selection - there are further optional units available.

  • You’ll need to have a Level 2 qualification such as GCSEs at grades A* to C, BTEC First Diploma, intermediate Apprenticeship or relevant work experience.

    This qualification is designed for people who're currently employed in a management role. You'll need to manage a team of at least two colleagues, and already be working in a suitable role.

    This Apprenticeship is available in England only.

  • You’ll be paid at least the current minimum wage rate for apprentices, but it could be more than that. After your Apprenticeship, if you’re employed as a senior supervisor, your salary could be from £17,000 to £25,000 a year according to the National Careers Service.
